The Pember Museum collections are a wonderful example of the bio-diversity of the area 100 years ago, and also include speciments from around the world.
There are over 7,000 objects in the collections of the Pember Museum, covering a wide variety of natural history subjects. Nearly 80% of the collections are on display. Specimens include vertebrate (birds, mammals and reptiles) and invertebrate animals (insects, arachnids and sea life), rocks and minerals, fossils, some anthropological and historical materials, and a herbarium (dried plant speciments).
The Pember Library is excited to present its very own children’s book featuring Lucy, the Pember’s resident library cat. Library Lucy: Sleepy Secrets at the Pember Library and Museum, written by Kristina Martin, has been a collaborative effort between the library, Granville Central School District and the author. Illustrations for the book were chosen from artwork submitted by elementary art students of GCS district. An art exhibit by the students will accompany the book launch and signing event at the Pember Library and Museum, 33 West Main St, Granville on Wednesday, June 15, 6-8 p.m. Please come join us in celebrating this special event. The book will be available at a cost of $9.95. Library Lucy can also be purchased through amazon.com.
